RE: Overnight between Banff and Jasper

I was able to talk to Parks Canada Information, located at the Icefield Centre (Tel 780-852-6288), they said that overnight parking in self contained RVs is most welcome, park in the RV parking area. A portable toilet is located at the lot, as well as donation box. It is considered as an overflow camping area as the campsites in the area have very limited RV camping. The main Icefield Centre building is open 24 hours a day.
The information was from Parks Canada.

RE: Overnight between Banff and Jasper

Another reply from the Icefield Centre:
Thank you for your email and inquiry. We have an overflow RV parking lot to the north of our Icefield Centre car parking lot. The cost is approximately $10.00 to stay overnight. You can pay upon arrival. If there is anything else I can help you with please let me know.
Sincerely,
Reception

RE: Overnight between Banff and Jasper

I sent off a couple of emails with regards to overnight parking of large RVs in the RV parking area at the Icefield Centre.
The first was to Parks Canada. The reply,
"The parking lot at the Icefields Centre is for day use only. There are twocampgrounds in the immediate area. One of them, Wilcox Creek is where the
motor homes stay. I will forward you message to our campground supervisor for more detail on just how large a motorhome may be accommodated there."
The other was to Brewster Tours the operator of the Icefield Centre. I asked,
"Is overnight parking for large RVs permited in the RV parking area at the Icefield Centre?"
The reply, "Yes it is".

RE: scenic route Waterton Lake, AB to Calgary?

Parks Canada operates four campgrounds in Waterton Lakes National Park.
Townsite Campground
Townsite Campground: mid-April to mid-October. ( Fees )
Located at the south end of the Waterton townsite, this campground offers 238 sites (95 of which are fully serviced), hot showers, flush toilets, food storage and kitchen shelters. This open, mowed lawn campground, exposed to winds from Upper Waterton Lake, is an excellent place for RV’s or for those who wish to be within walking distance of town amenities. Mule deer, bighorn sheep and ground squirrels are commonly seen in the campground
Crandell Campground
Crandell Campground: mid-May to Labour Day ( Fees )
Located along the Red Rock Parkway in the scenic Blakiston Valley, this campground is set in a pleasant montane forest. It offers 129 unserviced sites, flush toilets, piped water, kitchen shelters, some fire rings and firewood, food storage, recycling bins, and a dump station. Crandell Mountain offers some shelter from our predominantly southwest winds, and Crandell Lake is a short 2 km hike from the campground. Mule deer and black bears commonly wander through the campground so our Bare Campsite Program is an important part of the management of the area. Additionally, recent efforts to plant native vegetation are restoring some damaged areas.
Belly River Campground: mid-May to mid-Sept. Primitive ( Fees )
Located along the Chief Mountain Highway 26 km from Waterton townsite, this self-registration campground offers 24 unserviced sites with well water (hand pump), flush and dry privies, food storage, kitchen shelters, fire rings and fire wood. A pleasant area of mixed aspen forest, this primitive campground lies right beside the Belly River, and is favoured by those campers wanting a more secluded experience. Foxes, bear and deer are common through the area. A Campground Host Programme operates in this campground.

RE: Overnight between Banff and Jasper

Has anyone actually stayed at the Icefields Centre parking lot as I am getting conflicting reports with regards to overnight parking. Some say that parking is only allowed if you are staying at the hotel others say that you will get fined for staying overnight in any parking lot in Banff National Park or any other National Park.

RE: Taking Pets into Canada

We carry all our records but the only thing that you really need is your rabies certificate, however I have never been ask for it or any other papers. The last time the officials, in both directions came into the MH to sight the dogs and see if they appeared healthy. We have 3 Flat Coated Retrievers which we show in Canada and US. It was more of a problem determining what dog food we could take across the border

I also have never seen bears on the Island while camping. The last time I saw a bear was in Port Alberni behind the ice rink, someone had dumped a bunch of apples down the ravine and the bear was having a meal.
